Faiza Asad

Ms Asad is a senior associate in the Firm. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms Asad worked at a top-tier law firm in Pakistan dealing with both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Ms Asad regularly appears before various courts and tribunals on behalf of the Firm, representing clients in constitutional, civil, and corporate- commercial litigations. In addition, she has worked on many ad-hoc domestic and international institutional arbitrations such as ICC. Ms Asad represents listed and privately held companies as well as government clients on some of the most significant matters.

Ms Asad is actively involved in corporate and commercial transactional work, advising clients on corporate matters, drafting and vetting various agreements. Ms Asad does pro-bono work with a special focus on the juvenile justice system.

Notable cases handled by Ms Asad include:

  • Cypher- Trial - appeared in a first of its kind, officials’ secrets act trial and represented the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan on charges of espionage. Represented the client in a jail trial and successfully challenged and has his sentence suspended exonerating him of this allegation of causing harm to the state.
  • Pharmaceutical (Quidel Ortho) - represented one of the biggest international pharmaceutical companies which imports their medical devices within Pakistan. Successfully had the interim injunction restricting the company from exporting their goods set aside. This was a complex corporate matter with many different legal angles including but not limited to foreign arbitration, competition laws, drugs laws and the civil procedure code of Pakistan.
  • Subrogation (EFU) - successfully had a s.20 application of the Arbitration Act 1940 accepted by courts in a first of its kind arbitration by way of subrogation. This involved a detailed analysis of insurance laws, doctrine of subrogation and arbitration laws. The matter is now pending adjudication before the Arbitration Tribunal as appointed by Court.
  • Harassment (MMBL) - successfully challenged a harassment case against one of the biggest telecom/ microfinance bank registered in Pakistan. Appeared before the Federal Ombudsman for Protection Against Harassment and challenged the harassment complaint by a former employee against senior officials of the organisation.
  • Companies Act - assisted senior partner Barrister Haris Azmat before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a complex company’s law matter by way of which we helped develop legal jurisprudence with respect to the matter as has been reported in the judgement PLD 2024 SC 830.

Ms Asad graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of London in 2018, after which she went on to be called to the Bar in England & Wales (overseas; non-practicing) at the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2019. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Bar Professional Training from City University of London.

Ms Asad is enrolled as an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan. Ms Asad speaks both Urdu and English.
