Maheen Gul-Malik

A distinguished legal expert specializing in constitutional litigation, human rights, and legislative analysis, with extensive experience in advisory services, capacity building, and international law consultancy.

Ms Gul-Malik is a senior partner in the advisory services department of the Firm. She was a partner at Gul & Pirzada before merging her practice with the Firm recently. She has received an LL.M. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London.

In addition to her responsibilities at the Firm, Ms Gul-Malik is currently managing the recently established Nadira Hasan Law School at the Kinnaird College University. She started her legal career at the law firm of Bhandari, Naqvi and Riaz and also worked briefly at another prominent law firm, Hasan & Hasan. She subsequently joined her father’s practice and eventually became a partner in 2008.

Ms Gul-Malik has more than ten years of experience mainly in the areas of constitutional litigation, human rights, family, aviation, and sports related litigation and legislative gap analysis work. She has provided extensive support to a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, Mr Aftab Gul, in relation to the representation of two members of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Pakistan International Airlines and various private entities.

Ms Gul-Malik has also been involved extensively with capacity building and training of public sector officials and non-profit organizations in the fields of international law and human rights and has worked on projects for institutions including the Research Society of International Law (RSIL) Pakistan, GTZ, IOM and UNIFEM. She has also assisted prominent international law expert, Mr Ahmer Bilal Soofi, and delivered policy briefs (especially with respect to human rights treaties) to national stakeholders in relation to the gaps between Pakistan’s international treaty commitments and current domestic laws.
